Environmentally friendly products, recycling and environmentally friendly machines are highly values at Unika...
The UN has set a number of world goals that will guide the way for sustainable development for both the people and the planet we live on.
They are set up as 17 specific goals, including 169 targets, which commit all UN 193 member states to, among other things, abolish world poverty and hunger, reduce inequalities, ensure a good education and better health for all, decent jobs and more sustainable economic growth. They also focus on promoting peace and security and strong institutions, and on strengthening international partnerships. Thus, the new agenda recognizes that social, economic and environmental development, peace, security and international cooperation are closely linked and that achieving sustainable development results requires integrated action.
The world goals apply to all countries - both rich and poor - with regard to the countries' different benchmarks. The major challenges we face today - such as social, economic and political marginalization, increasing youth unemployment, inequality, poverty, food insecurity, lack of, or unequal access to, basic natural resources, environmental pollution, climate change and non-responsive governments - are all national challenges with major regional and global implications and are therefore necessary to solve together in collaboration,
The purpose of the world goals is to make a difference where we can. For the vast majority of companies and organizations, it will therefore not make sense to work with all of the world goals, but rather focus on where we can make a difference.
At Unika, we strive for World Goal No. 12, which deals with responsible consumption and production.
Specifically, some of the sub-goals are:
-By 2030, sustainable management and efficient utilization of natural resources must be achieved.
Through collecting all waste heat in our halls and therefore utilizing the waste product as surplus heat for Ans By, we achieve more sustainable use of our resources
-By 2030, the amount of waste will be substantially reduced through prevention, reduction, recycling and recycling.
Our active participation in projects in recycled plastic and our use of our own waste material supports this goal.
Effective use of natural resources
We use electricity in the making of injection moulded plastic. The plastic is heated to a level where it becomes liquid and then quickly cooled down again so that the mould becomes stable. In this process, we create excess heat. Previously, we have transported the cooling water from the machines through fans, used energy to burn off heat and also opened gates to get rid of waste heat.
Today, we have installed a new heating solution which is far more sustainable. From now on, our surplus heat is sent out on the district heating network. In this way, Unika delivers hear to 20% of the local area's households.
Recycling of waste
At Unika we recycle as much of our waste as possible. At very rare times, we cannot reuse some waste, but send it to companies that specialize in purchasing such products and processing them into a commodity that can be recycled.
We have continuously produced plastic items that are cast in 100% recycled plastic. We buy this reclaimed commodity from companies specialized in their field. We thus ensure that the technical and process properties fit the current task.
In designing new topics, we encourage our customers to consider using recycled materials to the extent that the task permits, for moulding their product and support the recycling of waste.
